The WA ESL program is designed for students who are not adequately prepared to study effectively in the WA online program. Through accurate assessment, the ESL program provides intensive English training for 6 months to 1 year, along with selective online classes (e.g., Mathematics) to support English language learning alongside academic subjects.
Class placement based on diagnostic testing
Guidance to progress from foundational English skills to proficiency
Training in American English pronunciation, speaking, listening, writing, and reading
Option to choose between in-person or Zoom classes (Zoom classes available for 4th grade and above)
Even after completing the ESL program and transitioning to regular classes, students will continue to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English alongside their regular studies.
To graduate from WA high school, students must submit TOEFL (70 points) or Duolingo (90 points) scores.
All WA students are taught and guided through online classes and English instruction to ensure their readiness to pass the TOEFL or Duolingo exams until graduation.
